Daniel Johnson

Actor

Daniel Johnson is a Meanjin-based creative and recent graduate of QUT’s BFA in Acting. Crediting his time as a Registered Nurse, Daniel brings an authentic, honest quality to the roles he portrays and the stories he tells.

  • Daniel grew up in Far North Queensland, involving himself within the local theatre scene from as young as eight. In 2023, he made the bold choice of leaving a permanent position with QLD Health to formally study Acting at QUT. His most recent theatre credits include playing Gabriel York in Andrew Bovell’s When the Rain Stops Falling directed by Daniel Lammin (QUT, 2025) and Jeremy in QLD’s debut of You Can’t Tell Anyone by Joanna Richard’s (QUT, 2024). His screen credits include QUT’s 2025 Film Slate short, How to Move, and SPRING CHICKEN, a category winner of Sydney’s 2025 TAKE48 Film Festival, among numerous appearances in a variety of non-for-profit short films.

Through his representation with Talent by Theresa Daniel has found commercial work as well landing an extra role in an upcoming feature film. Daniel is currently a writer/director on “FRAYED KNOTS”, a self-driven web anthology set for public release later this year. Alongside his day job as a NDIS Carer, Danny’s passion has always been in the performing arts; he strives to understand people, whether on a page or standing in front of him, in an effort to bring them to life within a narrative. His love for this comes second only to his love of the outdoors, where he’ll been seen frequenting on any other day. Danny is overjoyed to have been welcomed to the Ad Astra family this year.

  • Jules Berry as Magistrate Hesther Salomon appears effortless.  They manage to find this perfect balance between showing the power and responsibility that comes with a job that has seen countless evils and yet manages to maintain their humanity and empathy – and to truly want this young man to find peace.

    Magic Ant Network

York Klit (Jules Berry) as Romeo was another comedic highlight, as they fully leaned into the strong Aussie accent and puffed-up bravado. Their performance of Never Tear Us Apart while serenading Biron as Juliet was so earnestly funny it hurt. Not to mention York’s bedazzled beard was an absolute serve.
