Ashleigh Winter is an emerging Meanjin/Brisbane-based production designer with a strong passion for theatre-making and the creative arts. With a wide range of skills in handicraft and art, Ashleigh aspires to bring stories to life on stage through her work in set, prop and costume design.

Ashleigh Winter is an emerging production designer based in Brisbane, Australia. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland in 2025, with majors in Drama and Philosophy.
Her design debut was UQ Drama’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2025) as Co-Props Designer, Costume Designer and Assistant Stage Manager; roles which piqued her interest in pursuing scenic design for theatre. She has since joined Underground Theatre Company as Production Designer of Scenes From The Climate Era (2026), Prop Designer of Never Closer (2026) and is very keen to make her Ad Astra debut this year as Set Designer of Hot Tub. A multidisciplinary artist driven by her love for visual storytelling, Ashleigh strives to expand her creative skillset and brings an authentic, dynamic approach to every project.

They manage to find this perfect balance between showing the power and responsibility that comes with a job that has seen countless evils and yet manages to maintain their humanity and empathy – and to truly want this young man to find peace.

York Klit (Jules Berry) as Romeo was another comedic highlight, as they fully leaned into the strong Aussie accent and puffed-up bravado. Their performance of Never Tear Us Apart while serenading Biron as Juliet was so earnestly funny it hurt. Not to mention York’s bedazzled beard was an absolute serve.
