Tommi Civili is an Australian Italian composer and sound designer for theatre and film, known for his dynamic blending of orchestral depth, analog synthesis, and melodic storytelling.

With a background in piano and a sharp ear for arrangement, Tommi brings years of experience in sound design, operation and composition to the worlds of theatre, film, and live performance. His style draws inspiration from the songwriting brilliance of Paul McCartney, the cinematic sweep of Hans Zimmer, and the textural richness of Vangelis — resulting in scores that are as emotionally grounded as they are sonically ambitious.
Tommi’s work has featured in productions across Pip Theatre, Ad Astra, Anywhere Festival, and Metro Arts, Salad Days Collective, with credits on plays such as Banging Denmark, I am King I am Queen (Toured to NZ with Aronui festival), The Children, Brisbane (2026), Six Characters in Search of an Author, and various new works by emerging Australian playwrights. His hands-on approach to composition means stepping into the atmosphere of a production, letting its tone and rhythm guide the musical landscape — from soaring rock ballads to minimalist tension, lush orchestration to raw synth pulses.
In the world of film, Tommi has composed original scores for student shorts at the University of Queensland and Griffith Film School, collaborating closely with directors to shape tone and pace through music. His ability to faithfully recreate songs or craft music that evokes a specific era or energy also makes him a valuable asset for productions needing bespoke cues without the constraints of APRA fees.
