Tia Godbold

Actor

Tia Godbold is Filipina stage and screen performer, with experience in professional and community theatre, film acting and competition dance. She is excited to make her Ad Astra debut a Young Girl in Six Characters in Search of an Author.

  • Tia Godbold is an experienced triple threat performer, described in one theatre review as “.. a real can’t-turn-your-eyes-away talent.” Tia made her theatrical debut as Tam in the Queensland Musical Theatre production of "Miss Saigon" at the age of 4, following on in further productions including "Mary Poppins” (role of Jane Banks), “Fame” (role of Iris Kelly), "The Sound of Music" (role of Marta), "South Pacific" (role of Ngana), "Beauty and the Beast" (role of Chip), “The Music Man” (role of Amaryllis) and "Annie" in the role of Molly, for which she received a Gold Palm award nomination. Her theatre highlight to date was playing Young Ti Moune in "Once on this Island" at La Boite Theatre, performing alongside accomplished musical theatre icons including Lorinda May Merrypor (& Juliet), Vidya Makan (Six the Musical, Hamilton), Patrice Tipoki (Moulin Rouge) and Asabi Goodman (Hairspray, Chicago).

Tia began dance training at a young age (jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop and ballet) and also trains in screen acting, with credits in short and feature films, TV series, commercial photographic campaigns and TV commercials. In 2023 she was the winner of The Actors Pulse New York Teen Acting Class Scholarship, with acting tuition awarded to one recipient nationally.

  • “The Banks children, Tia Godbold as Jane…..were little professionals. Their stamina and acting skills were remarkable, particularly given that they appeared in nearly every scene. They committed to being “perfectly horrid” in the early scenes to provide a delightful contrast to their eventual transformation under Mary’s guidance. Tia’s feisty take on Jane nailed the character's bratty yet vulnerable nature. They both managed to present a mix of defiance and longing; their journey from mischievous children to more understanding individuals depicted beautifully in their performances.”

“And as one of the sassy mean girls of Olive’s mind, Tia Godbold is a real can’t-turn-your-eyes-away talent.”

"The youth cast of orphans is outstanding. In addition to Annie, of particular note is Tia Godbold as the littlest orphan, Molly, who loves making her friends (and the audience) laugh. Not only is she gorgeously precocious and full of personality, but she shows impressive professionalism to cope with a mid-scene dis-attached microphone dilemma."
