Lucinda Shaw is an Actor, Vocalist and Collaborative Theatre Maker known for playing dark and compelling roles with a strong sense of presence. • Lucinda Shaw has a long and varied career as a Theatre Maker, Actor, Writer, Lyricist, Composer, Director and Arts Educator. Having played Medea in The New Dead directed by Kat Henry at La Boite, Drusilla in Caligula with The Danger Ensemble at Judith Wright Centre, and Calpurnia in Julius Caesar at the Brisbane Powerhouse, their reputation for embodiment of powerful, intense and intriguing roles has also been celebrated in immersive theatre experiences, playing the menacing King in A Midnight Visit and the seductive queen, Salacia in Love Lust Lost, both by Broad Encounters. Lucinda performed in Matilda Award winning work, The Sound of  a Finished Kiss (Kate Wild/James Lees) at the Brisbane Powerhouse as well as shows interpreting the work of Bowie, Kate Bush, Lou Reed, and the sound track of Twin Peaks, all by Electric Moon alongside some of Mugandjin’s most dynamic performers.

With a passion for co-creating new work that celebrates human diversity, visibility and connection, Lucinda has collaborated with  other queer cultural creatives and artists with disabilities building recent cabaret theatre works, weaving together comedy and insight into deep human feeling: Dragespeare (Drag Kings do Shakespeare) at Metro Arts and Sex and Other Philosophies, an original work picked up by North Australia Festival of the Arts and Adelaide Fringe Festival.  As a song-writer, vocalist, and recording artist with Silver Sircus and Isis, themes of love, sexuality, death and deep human emotion are explored and expressed through poetic lyricism and engaging performance, recordings can be heard on all streaming platforms. Lucinda has created sound track elements for The Between, a new musical with Folly Games and Woodford Folk Festival, and for shows with Vulcana Women’s Circus, and Voiiid Collective.

  • “Lucinda Shaw’s Salacia was a highlight…equal parts seductress, lost soul and manipulator….join her in her dungeon you are in for a treat.”

“It was wonderful to see Brisbane Performers amongst the cast, including Lucinda Shaw as a larger-than-life, temperamental King… excellent and should be commended for their focus of their interaction with audience members… passionate commitment throughout.”

“Are friends Electric…Genteel, floating on a carefully prepared cloud of dreams, with a feeling of being transported to a plane of deep reference. We cannot go past Shaw’s vocal performance. Powerful, evocative and never trying to emulate Numan but rather forging her own print…elegance and a wonderful dark polish.”
