  • Cherie McCaffery is an emerging multi-disciplinary creative whose practice spans directing, acting, choreography and arts education. A self-described “all-rounder,” Cherie has built her career across a broad range of performance spaces, bringing energy, curiosity and a collaborative spirit to every project.

Cherie works full-time as a high school Drama teacher, where she directs, writes, choreographs and mentors young artists. She recently directed Grease the Musical, leading a large ensemble and production team, and continues to cultivate a vibrant creative culture within her school community.

Outside of teaching, Cherie actively pursues her own artistic work in both theatre and dance. She has trained with Kinetic Creative Studios for the past three years, performing and competing as a dancer across multiple events. During her Bachelor of Education (Drama), she gained experience directing and performing in a range of student theatre and film productions. Since graduating, her performance credits include La Boite’s Assembly program (2022) and Underground Theatre’s Friday Night Effect (2023).

Most recently, Cherie directed For the Sake of Love for Sun and Wine Arts Theatre, bringing her playful, character-driven approach to the work. She is passionate about collaborative storytelling and embraces the joy, humour and heart that live at the centre of her creative practice.

  • ‘Finally, McCaffery’s performance as Colette was incredibly intense and well-structured. To portray a young girl living with bipolar disorder and an abusive relationship while also simultaneously showing episodes of extreme highs and lows shows the commitment of McCaffery to her character.’
