βFrom the moment Nathaniel Currie bursts onto the stage as Shrek, he commands attention. His accent is impeccable, and even with the elaborate makeup and costume, his vocal prowess and energy shine through. His interaction with the other characters feels genuine, making his character's evolution both believable and heartfelt. His rendition of "Who I'd Be" highlights his exceptional vocal range and projection. The Act 1 finale, with the trio harmonising under the moonlight, was a personal highlight that beautifully captured the show's emotional core. Witnessing Shrek's more vulnerable side in Act 2, particularly in "When Words Fail", peels back the layers (pun totally intended) of his character while maintaining a delightful comedic element.β

βCurrie is wonderful as the roguish protagonist Edward, childlike in his playfulness and generous of spirit despite his self-aggrandising fantasies. Indeed, he is an engaging storyteller, and not just due to his charming southern accent. And his warm vocal tones add wonder, joy and whimsy to his many musical numbers. In perfect balance to his enthusiasm.β

βAs Captain Von Trapp, Nathaniel Currie captures the essence of the grumpy old sea commander who melts under Mariaβs warm allure. His βEdelweissβ is a clear emblem of the Captainβs love of his country without sliding into sappiness. And I loved βSomething Goodβ, Maria and the Captainβs duet when they realise their love for one another.β

βMel Brooksβ The Producers (the musical which won the most Tony Awards of all time) is a super-polished, pristine and delightful affair brimming with A-List performances and production values only a long-standing behemoth like QMT and director Nathaniel Currie can achieve.β
