Jazz Zhao is a Chinese-Australian actor, and musician. She attends the University of Life, majoring in ‘Turning childhood trauma into a r t.” Her mother would like her to quit acting, but being the rebellious sausage she is, she’s still doing the thing.

Biography

Jazz Zhao is a Chinese-Australian Actor and Pianist (AMEB Grade 8 High Distinction) of Manchurian-Dutch descent. Her latest credits include: As if I Wasn’t There (2023), The Portable Door (2023), Marry Me Maybe Musical (2022) SunPAC, Beyond the Woods (2022) SydFest, BIFF Sweden etc., Baedecker Wellness & Living Institute (2021) Ad Astra, If I Were You (2021) New York Indie Film Festival, Gold Coast Film Festival & other projects. She has worked with Playlab (White China 2023), Dead Puppets Society (We’re All Gonna Die 2023), and La Boite Theatre (Faded 2022) companies.

For 3 years, Jazz trained with renowned physical theatre company Zen Zen Zo, graduating their Internship and Actors Dojo programs; hence giving her a solid foundation in Asian-European fused performance methods of Suzuki, Butoh (Japanese Noh-theatre) the Viewpoints and devising within a collaborative company. Her highlights during her time with Zen include; composing underscore and performing as Pianist for ArtsQld’s funded the Tempest (2019), and starring in Simon Wood’s award-winning documentary Theatre Makers: Directors at Work (2020).

Jazz is a passionate storyteller, with a keen interest for theatre and film that can impact people and change perspectives. During the 2020-2021 Covid Lockdowns she filmed and produced her own little homemade documentary about her housemates “SUBURBAN TRIBE: MY HIPPIE LIFE” (2022).

She is currently working on the creative development of her one-woman dark comedy “DAUGHTER OF A TIGER” to tour the Australian Fringe Scene in 2024.
